Star Grade Certification

The Star Grade Certification offered by the Saint Martin’s Centre for Research & Accreditation Commission (SMCRAC) is an institutional recognition framework designed to acknowledge organizations that demonstrate commitment to quality, excellence, effective administration, innovation and continuous improvement. It provides institutions with an opportunity to present their achievements, systems and development initiatives through a structured evaluation process.

The certification is open to eligible schools, colleges, universities, educational institutions, training centres, research organizations, professional institutions, NGOs, foundations, social organizations and other eligible institutions. The evaluation is adapted to the nature and scope of the applicant organization, allowing institutions from different sectors to demonstrate their respective strengths and achievements.

The SMCRAC Star Grade system consists of five levels of institutional recognition:

• One Star – Emerging Institutional Excellence: Recognizing emerging commitment to quality, development and continuous improvement in institutions and organizations.
• Two Star – Developing Institutional Excellence: Recognizing structured practices, progress and developing standards of excellence in institutions and organizations.
• Three Star – Established Institutional Excellence: Recognizing established systems, effective practices and consistent quality across institutions and organizations.
• Four Star – Advanced Institutional Excellence: Recognizing strong performance, innovation and sustained development in institutions and organizations.
• Five Star – Distinguished Institutional Excellence: Recognizing exceptional quality, leadership, innovation and excellence demonstrated by institutions and organizations.

Each grade reflects the level of institutional development and performance demonstrated during the applicable evaluation.

The evaluation may consider important areas such as governance and leadership, academic or professional quality, faculty and staff development, infrastructure and resources, research and innovation, student or stakeholder support, quality assurance, community engagement, institutional achievements and continuous improvement practices. The applicable criteria may vary according to the type, size and activities of the institution.

The certification process generally involves application, preliminary review, submission of institutional information and supporting documentation, evaluation, assessment and grading. Institutions successfully completing the applicable evaluation process may receive an official SMCRAC Star Grade Certification corresponding to the level achieved.

The Star Grade Certification enables institutions to showcase their commitment to quality, strengthen their institutional profile, recognize their achievements and encourage continuous improvement. Certified institutions may present their Star Grade recognition through their official website, institutional profile, brochures, publications and other approved communication materials, subject to the applicable SMCRAC terms and conditions.
